HUNTING

At Chandler Ranch

IMG_9523.JPG

The Chandler Ranch is located in the heart of the Pecos Trail Region and is prime West Texas country, home to herds of whitetail deer. With the Pecos River’s and Independence Creek’s waters flowing through the ranch, animals are extremely abundant. There’s plenty of untrammeled land on the Chandler Ranch to go around. You have full admission to virtually all its undisturbed wilderness: a refreshing creek, two ponds, woodlands, rugged terrains, and flattop mountains.

Chandler Ranch offers hunting packages to the public. We have enlisted a rigorous game management program to ensure that our whitetail deer obtain the highest amount of antler and body growth. By working with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, we are working towards a uniform deer age structure with an ideal 2:1 doe-to-buck ratio. You can expect to see a countless number of healthy mature deer. The ranch is known to have free-range whitetail bucks score 110 – 130+ B&C.

What 's Included In Your

HUNTING EXPERIENCE

Meals

Three hardy meals with refreshments (non-alcoholic only) are served each day of the hunt. Our on-site country cooks prepare the feasts. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks with you. Cabins are furnished with mini refrigerators.

Adventures

Roam the ranch on foot or use our motorized “mules” and head out hiking, wildlife-scouting or simply fish in one of our local ponds or the Pecos River. Hunters and non-hunters gain access to all Adventures amenities the ranch offers.

Lodging

After a long hunt, relax in our spacious, comfortable cabins. Each lodge features rustic, southern style décor with luxurious bedding and modern amenities.

Preparation of Game

We include field dressing, quartering, and cold storage of your game. Each hunter must furnish a cooler. If needed, taxidermy services are available.

Transportation

Our guides transport each hunter to and from the deer blinds each morning and evening. We have eight blinds across the ranch with deer feeders and game cameras.

"Extra Shot"

We are a fair chase, free-range game hunting ranch. You may harvest a bobcat, feral hog, or mountain lion at no-charge.

Not surprisingly, wildlife outnumbers the human population on the ranch. Animals as raccoons, skunks, armadillos, rabbits, beavers, possums, and porcupines are never hunted, but to be observed and protected in their natural habitat.

GROUPS

Reserve the ranch for your group’s exclusive use. No more than five hunters are permitted to hunt per week. Non-hunters are welcome to join hunters for the weekend. The exclusive group access includes accommodation in all cabins. Please inquire for more details.

DEPOSIT

We require a 50% deposit per hunter and non-hunter. Hunting reservations are not permitted without a deposit. Your deposit is non-refundable; however, dates may be substituted. Your deposit is applied to your total balance. Final payments are due in advance of check-in. We accept cash and credit. Dates are offered on a first come/first served basis.

LICENSE

Your hunting license must be purchased before arrival to the ranch. All hunters are guaranteed a license over the counter. Pick up your license at your local Bass Pro Shop or Academy Sports Store.

Every hunter (including out-of-state hunters) born on or after Sept. 2, 1971, must successfully complete a Hunter Education Training Course. Proof of certification is required to be on the hunter while hunting. Visit TPWD.Texas.gov/Education/Hunter-Education for more information.

The Chandler Ranch assumes no liability for changes in fees and hunting dates set by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

POLICIES

All guests must sign a Release of Liability waiver.

Only five hunters per hunt weekend are allowed to hunt. Non-hunters may join at an additional cost.

Hunters have access to free-range white-tail deer. We do not charge any kill, trophy or replacement fees of any kind. No hidden fees.

Any wounded game is considered the shooter’s animal. Total effort must be made to find the wounded game. If the game is shot at and the shot is presumed missed, a thorough search must be made before hunting is resumed.

TIPS

Our team goes above and beyond to make your hunt a great success. We suggest a 10% to 15% cash tip to the guide and 5% to 7% to the country cooks. These recommended amounts are for the total cost of the hunt.
